How Do I Jailbreak My iPhone?

My last post, I rambled on about the pros and cons of jailbreaking your iPhone. Now that you’ve had a day to reflect on your digital morals, it’s now time to make the move to more genius. If you’re remotely interested in “learning” the procedures, keep reading.

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes
  2. Back your phone up. Last thing you wanna do is mess something up and not have anything to resort back to.
  3. Find a good Jailbreak program. One that I’ve been seeing repeatedly on forums and in blogs can be found by going to: BlackRain
  4. Click and download your desired OS (Mac or PC)
  5. Restart your computer
  6. Hook your iPhone up to your computer and launch the BlackRa1n program you’re see an icon similar to the one below:
    Make it Rain
  7. Your phone will boot in recovery mode

  8. After a couple of seconds, you’ll see what appears to be a Da Vinci painting (I believe that’s a picture of GeoHot)
  9. Donate some cash and wait for your device to reboot

That whole process shouldn’t take you longer then a minute. Once you have all that done the real fun begins. When your phone reboots, you’ll have the blackra1n logo on your phone

Once clicked, you’ll be given a choice of three applications to install. Out of the three, I’ve read that Cydia is the best. It’s a little top heavy in terms of file size, but it does the trick. Once your app is installed, you can remove the blackra1n icon, you won’t need it anymore.

From there, just experiment, do some research, like I said, it’s like having a new phone again. Here is a good place to start your research: http://www.iphoneuserguide.com/apple/2009/02/07/iphone3g/top-10-essential-cydia-apps/

Apple… Give us Free!!

Ok, so maybe I’m being a little over dramatic with the title, but it’s how I was feeling at the time. Throughout the duration of my time with the iPhone, I’ve fell in love with the flexibility, sophistication, and sleekness of it. I’ve become so dependent, I lost my phone at the gym once, and ended up paying full price for one the next day (yeah, I know right??). However, with all the genius that little gadget contains, what do we strive for?? More genius.

The question of Jailbreaking comes up in almost every conversation amongst iPhone users. What exactly is Jailbreaking? It’s when a really smart kid, usually young enough to be your little nephew figures out how to run some code which completely bypasses the barriers that Apple has in place. As much as I love Apple, they love to limit us, and make us pay more for features that other carriers get standard (running applications in the background, using your phones Internet to get online with your laptop etc.) so with that bypass, you practically get a whole new phone with almost limitless capability. You’ll find yourself stuck on your phone again as if you just got it.

So naturally, the next question would be “is Jailbreaking your iPhone illegal”? Mmm, well, I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s illegal, but it will undoubtedly void your warranty with Apple (if you just happen to send it in for repair). It can arguably violate the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) you can read more about that here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMCA If you DO have some issues with it, and need to send it in for repair, make sure you restore your old settings. Keep in mind, when you install a major update, you’ll lose everything.

One thing I can’t post without mentioning. Jailbreaking your iPhone may not put you in any immediate violation, but the user will definitely have the ability to download pirated, and cracked apps, which obviously is a violation. Just keep that in mind. Click here to Jailbreak your iPhone

Break Down #2

Everything is all better now. Lucky for me, my breakdown had absolutely nothing to do with the clutch. It had something to do with the exhaust manifold and a few other parts under there. All is well now so hopefully my car doesn’t over hear me confessing my needs for a truck again.

Break Down

So I had this wonderful article in mind that I was going to write for you guys, but I think I’m gonna have to save it for later on in the week. I decided to take a nice drive over to Home Depot after work to grab a ladder so I can do some work on the bike in the garage. The minute I pulled out of home depot, my clutch decided to go out on me, no smoke, no warnings, no slipping, no nothing. Just, nothing… More on that later.

JimmyJoeBob Project Day 1

So I know you guys are probably wondering what the heck is up with that name, JimmyJoeBob, well, it’s funny you should ask.  That name has a history behind it for reasons I’ll never understand.  A couple of years ago, out of the blue my older sister decided to start calling me JimmyJoeBob and the name just kind of stuck with me, she till this day calls me that.  So, what better name for my first “Bobber” project, then JimmyJoeBob?

OK, let me get down to the meat of the the subject.  As mentioned in the description, my brother in law bought a brand new Yamaha Warrior and decided that he didn’t want his old Yamaha XS1100 bike anymore.  He asked me if I wanted it, and of course, I said yes (always willing to take on a new hobby, it’s my gift and my curse).  Needless to say, I seen the potential of it, kind of like a coach who sees the potential of a player and crafts him to become this marvel athlete.  I have a few pictures I’d like to share, from when I first received the bike.  Pay no attention to the date shown on the pictures, and for those of you who are wondering if I took the pictures in the future, no I didn’t.  Camera setting malfunction.
