iPhone 4 and iPad Can Now Handle FLASH!

Yeah buddy, you read that title correctly. Thanks to some useful information I received from Redmond Pie, it appears the jailbroken iPhone 4 is now up and running in it’s beta phase. They previously announced a step by step instructional post on how to get Flash installed on your iPad, you can see that link by clicking here.

The iPhone 4 is next up to bat with their beta version of Flash (know as Frash) and it’s now available for anyone with a jailbroken iPhone 4. I haven’t actually tried it yet but there are some comments on their blog of users who have had successful installations. It’s definitely worth trying it out. Remember to back up first though! You can click here to read the article. See it in action below.

iPhone Jailbreaking, Legalized

Good morning all. I hope you are all having a wonderful day, and if not, hopefully the news I bear will change that (that is if you’re an iPhone or smartphone user). Back in January, I wrote a post on how to Jailbreak your iPhone (click here for more information on that). Back then, it was “technically” illegal to jailbreak your iPhone although no one has ever been sued or gotten themselves into any trouble from doing it, the act alone was considered against the law.

On Monday morning, the Library of Congress made practices of jailbreaking your iPhone (and any other phones) legal. Yeah, you read that correctly, you can even read this article for more information on that. So what does this mean for everyone? This means we can enjoy pure freedom on our mobile devices. No more application or service provider limitations for that matter and I for one am pretty stoked about the decision. I know Apple must have been upset about the whole ordeal but the truth is, we should have the ability to use our devices the way we want. We pay good money for these phones, limitations and restrictions on features that we “should have anyway” just seems partial.

One other important thing that I MUST mention is that once your iPhone is jailbroken, your warranty becomes void. So just because it’s legal now, don’t walk up into the Apple store with a jailbroken iPhone trying to have them service it, cause they’ll point you to the front door. Restore it back to it’s original “non jailbroken” state, then take it to get serviced. With that said, happy jailbreaking people!

Antenn-aid For your iPhone 4

Hello everyone, I hope all is well on this gloomy but still beautiful Tuesday. At this point, everyone should be aware that the iPhone 4 has a bit of a boo boo with their antenna situation. This will require more than just a band-aid to fix this issue, or will it? I stumbled across the Antenn-aid website and found that they’ve made specialized vinyl stickers just for your iPhone 4. These stylish band-aid type stickers are meant to improve your signal performance.

I’m still representing the iPhone 3G and have no intentions on upgrading just yet, but for those of you who already have an iPhone 4, for $4.99 for a half dozen, I’d definitely give this a shot. Take a look at the pictures below courtesy of Antenn-aid.

Death of AT&T Unlimited Wireless Data

Yeah buddy, you read that title right. AT&T is going anti unlimited wireless data plans. I just read a truly disturbing article from Matt Buchanan that put a damper on my day. Just when I get comfortable with tethering capabilities I find out we’re now going to be charged for data overages. Seriously? So now that we’re phasing out of the “oh i can’t talk because I don’t have any minutes” days, we run into the same thing with data. “Oh i can’t check my email because i’m low on data”. Now there is going to be a “Data Plus” option that will allow you to pay $15 for 200MB of data, and if you run out, you can pay another $15 for 200MB (see where this is going?). You can get a “Data Pro” plan for $25 that gives you 2GB of data. Wanna know what makes things better (for AT&T)? If you use the 2GB for tethering, then you have to pay an additional $20. That’s just miserable, not only do we have to deal with dropped calls every two seconds, but now we’re being limited on data.

On a good note, people who currently have unlimited plans, and lock themselves in after June 7th will continue to have their unlimited plans. People who are considering singing up, you need to sign up before the June 7th or that’s the end of that. What’s next AT&T? Are you going to publicly announce to all the children there is no such thing as Santa Clause??

I’m sure there are people out there who would die for AT&T and are probably muttering “If you don’t like AT&T why don’t you just leave?” and my answer to that is “shut up, I’m venting!”

More of Matt’s article can be read by clicking here.

iPhone App Mondays: Vlingo

What’s happening everyone? I hope this beautiful Monday finds everyone in high spirits. I had a little too much fun Saturday night which kind of slowed me down for most of the day yesterday and a little bit of today. Hence the reason this blog is being written at 4:00pm instead of my usual noon launch. But with my weekend festivities behind me now, I wanted to give a quick mention of an iPhone app that I’ve been using lately. It’s called Vlingo, and it allows a user to send status updates (Twitter/Facebook), emails, sms, map directions, and search the web via voice. I’ve been using it mainly for Twitter and Facebook updates, I haven’t gotten into the emails and sms messages because that costs about $10 and I’m being a little Frugal McFrugalton this month. I’d recommend folks to download it to try it out (it’s free) and if it’s something worth buying, try out the $10 version. I’m sure the email and sms features can come in handy for a lot of people.

iPhone App Mondays: Words With Friends

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. My in laws came to town this weekend (Mother and little brother in law) and in between watching movies, playing video games, eating, and drinking, we managed to get some iPhone gaming in. My brother in law Melvin introduced me to a game called “Words With Friends” by a company called New Toy Inc. which is (for the most part) Scrabble on your iPhone. Note that the the name of the game isn’t Scrabble, it’s just similar to it. I would have never thought in a million years a “Scrabble(ish)” type of game would be so fun. It’s one of those asynchronous games that you can play with someone over a period of time and you never have to actually play at the same time. When it’s your turn, you’ll be notified and the next time you have a break, or are standing in a line doing absolutely nothing, you can put some words together. One of the fun things about this game is that it gets your brain moving, thinking, and un-scrambling. It’s definitely a fun way to break up the day. It is however, extremely addicting so I’m just warning you now, you’ll go through your whole day looking at words and thinking what other words you can spell with it.

iPhone App Mondays: Men’s Health

Good morning everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I have a special week of blogging planned for you all. I have my first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament happening next weekend (March 27th) so I’m going to spend this week focusing on health and fitness.

I ran across the Men’s Health fitness application and I was pretty impressed by the amount of workout demonstrations that were offered. It’s almost like reading any regular Men’s Health magazine but with a focus on exercising. Some of the features for this application include:

  • Over 20 workouts with one new workout added weekly
  • Rep and Set tracking
  • Option to email your results
  • Rest timer
  • Low cost ($1.99)
  • More options available

You can read more about this application by going to The Men’s Health Website. Download it, and give it a shot!

iPhone App Mondays: Cleartune

Happy Monday everyone. First things first, let me start by apologizing for my two week hiatus. I just picked up a new hobbie and it’s been taking up quite a bit of my time. I think I’m back on track though, so let’s get moving along.

For some time now, I’ve been looking for a decent iPhone application that will allow me to tune my instruments accurately. I just ran across the Cleartune app which is a chromatic tuner that will tune just about any instrument that can sustain a tone. If you’re a musician and you own an iPhone, this application will be perfect for you. Click here to find out more information about the app. I’ve included a photo below that shows off the sleek note wheel along with the tuning meeter.

iPhone App Mondays: NBA League Pass

Good morning everyone! I hope this Monday finds you all in happy spirits. I Just finished a fabulous BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) work out this morning and while I was sitting in a triangle one thought crossed my mind, the NBA League Pass iPhone application. Not that I was thinking any less of my opponent, but sometimes between all the huffing and puffing, I’ll briefly (without thought) go to a happy place.

The NBA League pass is an application that let’s you watch live NBA games directly on your iPhone. Enough said, I don’t think I have to go into any more detail about that. One cool feature however, is the ability to catch replays of games that you might have missed. This is a great application for watching highlights, getting scores, or just taking a moment out of your day to watch a little TV if you’re not necessarily in front of one. It’s about $20 for a half season pass and more information about it can be seen by going to: the NBA.com website
