Harley, First Loss in 16 Years!

I just happen to run across this topic and first off, I had no idea Harley was running that strong for so long. They haven’t suffered a loss in 16 years, as far as I’m concerned HD, that’s a success. The rise of motorcycles is here, there are more companies out there dropping two wheel heaters than ever before. Victory, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and others (not to say the least) stepped their game up in the world of cruisers. Not to mention their prices are a lot less expensive than the Harleys. If that’s not a factor to take into consideration then this recession definitely is. Harley’s shipment of bikes dropped 27% in 2009 we’re talking over a $200 million loss in the fourth quarter. OUCH!! You can read more about that by checking out the NY Times. For more detailed information, check out Yahoo Finances

This look of the Harley Street Glide is probably my favorite.

The Road Glide is one I’ve never drove, but from what I hear, this is the most comfortable one out when it comes to wind resistance.

Last but not least, the Road King, they don’t call this thing Road King for no reason, when this thing is coming up behind you, get out of the way.

Build a Bike From the Ground Up!

What can be better then going out and buying yourself a brand new bike right off the lot? Building one yourself, from the ground up. I may be speaking a little hypocritical because I’ve never actually built a motorcycle from the ground up before but actually working on mine, is an exonerating feeling. I did have a nasty experience that involved a clutch cover and a whoooole bunch of oil (I’ll save that for another post). It really is fun work though, for those of you not knowing the feeling.

In case any of you are interested in taking on such a task, or at least reading up on it, I came across this website that you might find interesting. Custom Choppers Guide. They have some amazing videos on You Tube that are definitely worth checking out. See below for a few episodes:
